Ordinations, Finals, Retreat, Anniversary and a Sea Change

A great weekend for the Church in Melbourne as eight men were ordained to the Priesthood at St Patricks Cathedral yesterday. A historic day for two reasons, firstly as it was the largest group ordained for almost 30 years, and secondly it saw four men ordained for the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross. I am sure the CAM will carry the story and photos in the days ahead.
At the other Cathedral on Friday night, we also celebrated as the Hawks ran over the Pies in what was dubbed the ‘Angry Birds’ Final.
Please keep me in your prayers this week as I make my annual retreat in Sydney. As you can expect there will be no blogging this week (even less than the slow down which has taken place over the last few weeks).
It so happens that this retreat coincides with my 2nd Anniversary of Priestly Ordination on Tuesday, please pray for my three fellow ordinands and I especially on this day.
I realised only today that I had failed to blog yet about my impending change of appointment. After two years at St Kevin’s Hampton Park I am being transferred next week to take up a new appointment as Assistant Priest at St Francis Xavier Parish Frankston, my very own sea change.
This week dedicated to prayer, comes at an appropriate time, an opportunity to reflect with the Lord on my first two years of priestly life, the ups and downs, the success and failures, the people I have met who have changed my life in ways I could never have expected, and of course the challenges and changes ahead of me.
Again, please remember me in your prayers.
